School is back in session and the Garden is looking great! Today we had a surprise visit from former Gateway environmental science teacher and current Board Member Will Parish, who brought us some beautiful log "rounds" from his property near Occidental. These will be used for seating in the garden. Thanks Mr. Parish!

It was our final Garden Work Day of the summer and we had a great turnout! With the help of Gateway parent Lupe Diaz we finished the basic greenhouse construction. We finished the border fence. We also made more planting beds and got everything cleaned up for the new school year. Thanks for coming out everyone!
The border fence installation has begun! We found some excellent reclaimed redwood from Heritage Salvage in Petaluma. The rails for our fence are from an old redwood deck, and the posts were originally used as grapevine stakes in a local vineyard. Thanks to community volunteer Shaun Mason for his help with the design and install!
This week we had the last of the asphalt removed from the garden. We discovered this small portion only after all excavation was completed. Turns out it was an old road (Endicott St) that ran under the current level of asphalt, so we did not notice it until we started digging around in the garden. Finally it's been removed and we can move on with fruit tree planting!
This week Garden Club work tirelessly to install over 30 plants along Gateway's front entrance. Administration asked if we would do this before our school's important Luncheon fundraiser. We worked until dark for two days but we got it done! Great job everyone!
