Our newest volunteer member of Garden Club showed up again this week! A red-shouldered hawk (Buteo lineatus) has been perched on the fence, monitoring our garden for tasty mice that might set up shop next to our compost pile. Add her to our Organic Integrated Pest Management System! Alexis harvested about 60 snails of all sizes from one part of the garden that was getting eaten up pretty good. She moved them to a neighboorhood park where they might find a happy home. We also worked to get rid of a little mold that showed up on our mushrooms. We're experimenting with the right level of moisture and light that will grow fabulous porcinin, oyster, and shitake mushrooms. Stay tuned!
