Spring is fast approaching, so our gardeners are busy planting seeds and preparing planting beds. This season's crops include snap peas, bush beans, kale, onion, lettuce, and brussels sprouts and carrots. Some are germinating indoors, while others we planting directly into our garden. Hopefully these cold temperatures so not hinder germination of our outdoor seeds. If all goes well, we'll be harvesting lots of fresh organic vegetables before school ends in May!

Our student gardeners have been taking advantage of the beautiful sunny weather this winter, doing lots of activities and projects in the garden. It's been fun! See below for some photos of what we've been up to the past couple of weeks. Gateway Garden Club was pleased to collaborate with our neighbors upstairs, KIPP middle school, to bring some much needed love and attention to the "old garden," an area of campus with great potential for beautiful garden space for students to enjoy. Thanks to everyone from KIPP who came out on a Saturday morning to dig in the dirt. And a big thank you to Healthy Planet for developing the vision for this project and assisting us with funding.
