Gardening students installed over 30 new plants and a decorative fence to help beautify Gateway's front entrance area. The plants were provided at a discounted rate from Pacific Nurseries (thank you!) and originally were centerpieces at our school's annual luncheon fundraiser. They'll now provide beauty, pollination, and carbon sequestration for years to come!

We're happy to announce the completion of another exciting feature in our ever-evolving garden: the Performance Stage!
This 12x12 redwood deck was constructed with the help of 9th grader Sara Otgonbaatar’s father, recent Gateway alum Ali Almari ’18, and our Gardening class. It was funded by a grant from Lowe’s. It’s perfectly level with the sea (actually a 1/2% slope for water drainage) and solid as Yosemite granite. Check out Mr. Becker's Art 2 class testing it out in the photo below! The vision here is to host outdoor performances featuring our students, our staff, and the greater community, during lunch, after school, and any time! Initial ideas include: Band performances/concerts DJ sets Hip hop artists Slam poetry Drama/Theater performances Dance performances Guest speakers Let us know if you have any ideas for , let’s collaborate! |
