Hey everyone, welcome back to Gateway Garden Club. Today, we went on a field trip to the Golden Gate Park Plant Nursery where we were warmly greeted by three nice gentlemen. They introduced us to the nursery and explained to us how they helped people with disabilities (mainly blindness and deafness) learn to garden. It was quite amazing to see what people without one of their important senses are capable of. You couldn't even tell the difference between a plant potted by someone with vision and a potted plant by someone without sight. The gentlemen also gave us a tour of the nursery and educated us on how they plant their plants. It was really cool to see so many different plants together in a big plot of land. Overall, the trip was amazing and I hope we can return there in a future garden Club meeting. Thanks for coming guys and we'll see you next week.
Hello everyone and welcome back. We started the meeting today by gathering and talking about certain issues that have arisen in the past week. After, we had some guests from Slow Foods come over to our school and talk to us about who they are and what they do. We also had a nice snack consisting of different types of apples and delicious walnuts. When everything indoors was done, we went outside to do some garden maintenance and other stuff. Overall, today was a chill day. Thanks for coming guys and we'll see you next week.
Hey, welcome back everyone. Hope you guys all had a wonderful and rejuvenating spring break. Gateway Garden Club started fourth quarter with a bang in this meeting. Our hard work has paid off and the food we planted in our plots of land several weeks back have grown! Today, we harvested lettuce, scallions, radish, and dill. We then proceeded to make a salad with the food we grew today. A couple of kids with the guidance of Erin washed, chopped, and made a delicious salad for the whole club to enjoy. While the salad was being made, the rest of the club was busy weeding and tending to the rest of the garden. Overall, today was a great day and delicious one too. Thanks for coming, and we'll see you next week.
